'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from distance, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an unbelievable recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after they changed formation. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I realized I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
